Vallam Kali means water sports in Malayalam. It is the traditional boat (paddled war canoe) race in Kerala
(a state in south of India). Even though it is South of India, many Indians still participate in it and it is considered as an Indian Holiday
It is mainly conducted during the season of the harvest festival Onam in Autumn. Vallam Kali include races of many kinds of traditional boats (paddled longboat) of Kerala. The boats are commonly referred to as, Snake Boats.
